Wave measurement tests on the Sainte-Anne du Portzic site

on November 23, 2018

Centrale Nantes and Sens-Up have carried out testing at the IFREMER test site in Sainte-Anne du Portzic to validate a new type of sensor for measuring waves. The aim of the PreDeMo-Nav tests is to conduct a proof-of-concept demonstration of a wave measurement rangefinder, heralding the development of a LiDAR optical sensor with low-angle scanning for wave field characterization. The PreDeMo-Nav project, involving Centrale Nantes, SIREHNA (Naval Group), the University of Toulon and the DGA, is funded by an ANR-DGA Astrid grant.

Teams from Ifremer (Laboratoire Détection, Capteurs et Mesures and the Laboratoire de Comportement des Structures en Mer) provided technical and logistical support for this project within the framework of the THeoREM Scientific Interest Group.

Other tests as part of this project were carried out in the ocean test facilities at Centrale Nantes in October 2017.
