Visit of Jean Castex, Prime Minister, to the Ifremer Center, near Brest

Prime Minister, Jean Castex, visited the IFREMER center in Brittany on February 6, 2021.

During this visit, he inaugurated Ifremer's new headquarters in Plouzané.

The Prime Minister was also able to visit the Ifremer Deep water wave tank, one of THeoREM's main infrastructures.

This wave tank in Brest has a monodirectional wave generation capacity and is exceptionally deep (20 m). It is used to study the hydrodynamic behavior in calm seas and in swell on scale models of fixed, floating or submarine systems.

The Prime Minister visited Ifremer with Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Annick Girardin, Minister for the Sea, Frédérique Vidal, Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Bérangère Abba, Secretary of State to the Minister for Ecological Transition, in charge of Biodiversity, Richard Ferrand, President of the National Assembly, as well as representatives of local authorities: the Brittany Region, the Department of Finistère and Brest Métropole.
